Mortal Kombat 2 movie in the cinema. Watching a movie in the cinema. Astana, Kazakhstan - July 17, 2025.

After some exciting news regarding the Street Fighter movie recently, the trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 dropped.

In the sequel, we get our first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage as he is introduced to the outer realm tournament. It’s safe to say Cage doesn’t seem too keen on a tournament where you fight to the death.

Released in 2021, Mortal Kombat featured fighters such as Sonya Blade, Kano, Liu Kang and Raiden. It was a questionable move for Johnny Cage to be left out of the first movie, considering he was in the video games from the very beginning. However, fans were relieved to see that, at the end of the film, Cole Young (who is not featured in any of the games) travels to Los Angeles to find Cage.

Australian actors Jessica McNamee and Josh Lawson return as Sonya Blade and Kano, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, and Max Huang is back as Kung Lao. In addition to Urban, the other new cast members include Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, and Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn.

Mortal Kombat 2 is set for release on October 24.
