A busy city street with people walking and a man wearing brown shoes. Concept of hustle and bustle, with people going about their daily lives

I have been wondering if I should write something discussing the lack of content on Game On Oz over the last month, and this morning, while I was waiting for footage to upload, I thought, ‘why not!’

My girlfriend and I have moved from the outback city of Broken Hill to Townsville in North Queensland. This is a fresh chapter for us. While we had good people around us in Broken Hill, we were very isolated where we were.

Two significant events occurred that allowed us to realise how isolated we were. The first was a diagnosis my girlfriend had, I won’t say what that diagnosis was, as I haven’t told some people, as I felt it is news better said in person than a message or in a post. We travelled back and forth to Adelaide for a doctor’s appointments and treatment sucked and took a toll on us.

The second event was a major power outage that hit Far West, New South Wales, in October last year. With no generator and growing nervous due to the unreliable power, we began to think that moving closer to family for a while would suit us.

Our Families did as much as they could during this time. Jen’s family visited, but due to her father’s sickness, it was hard. My mum drove over from Wagga as much as she could to help out, which was great. However, we couldn’t expect her to keep doing that as much as she was.

Since we decided to make the move, we had so much to do. Packing the house and getting it ready for sale were the number one priorities. I didn’t finish up at my job until five days before we had to leave. That meant there was very little spare time to try and write for Game On Oz or post anything to the social media pages.

Now that we have finally arrived in sunny (and humid) Townsville, and I have fewer commitments (for the moment, anyway), I will return to writing and producing other content for the website and our various social media platforms.

To everyone who reads, follows, and engages with the stories on social media, I appreciate your support.
