We are one day removed from Money in the Bank, and I’ve had time to process the event and gather my thoughts over some of the things that happened at the premium live event.

Here are those thoughts:

Men’s Money in the Bank Match

In all honesty, I wasn’t upset when Drew McIntyre scaled the ladder and retrieved the briefcase. It’s what happened later that slightly upset me.

I know you wouldn’t want a whole heap of interference, but I was expecting these things to happen:

  1. CM Punk attacking Drew McIntyre and costing him the match.
  2. Logan Paul to attack LA Knight and costing him the match and setting a US championship opportunity at Summerslam for Knight.
  3. The Wyatt Sicks doing some supernatural stuff and costing Chad Gable the chance to win.

None of these things happened, and while it’s not the end of the world and it will not make me stop watching wrestling, what happened later left me somewhat annoyed. It’s especially annoying when two of the most popular Superstars in Knight or Jey Uso could have had the chance to win it. Even Carmelo Hayes would have benefited from the win.

Sami Zayn vs Bron Breaker for the Intercontinental Championship

This was an enjoyable David vs Goliath match, though I had a feeling Sami Zayn would win. It was a big week for Zayn, he was back in Canada, and he had a stand-up comedy night to perform at as well so the signs were pointing to a win.

I know that wrestlers lose in their hometown’s all the time, but it just didn’t seem like the right time to give the title to Bron Breaker. From here, the feud should keep going and head all the way to Summerslam where Breaker should win the title.

WWE creative have had Breaker looking like a machine, to have his quest for the Intercontinental Championship end like that doesn’t make sense.

Damien Priest vs Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre for the World Heavyweight Championship

I’m not sure about you, but I was confused when the ref stopped the count at two when Damien Priest didn’t kick out of Seth Rollins’ pin attempt, and then McIntyre comes out to cash in. It was’t until ring announcer Samantha Irvin announced that it was a triple threat match that I realised what was going on.

Since CM Punk didn’t show up in the Money in the Bank match, this is where he came out to further the story. Punk didn’t only cost the McIntyre the Championship, he also cost Rollins as well.

One thing I am expecting though is that the stipulation that was made where Rollins couldn’t challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship if he didn’t beat Priest to be void because it was changed to a triple threat match, and technically Rollins wasn’t beaten since he wasn’t pinned.

We will see where it goes from here, but to see the briefcase wasted like this was disappointing.

This is where creative got it right. The match was entertaining, and there was no Damage Control or Piper Niven run in which was good to see.

The match in itself was amazing, and Chelsea Green risking herself to fall to the outside on tables was quite the sight. A number of other spots were amazing, with Zoey Stark taking a number of bumps which made me wince.

Tiffany Stratton and Lyra Valkyria were my favourites to win, and after the higher ups didn’t pull the trigger on Stratton at the Elimination Chamber in February, it was good to see them do it here.

The Bloodline vs Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton

A good way to finish off the card, I was surprised that Solo Sikoa got a clean pinfall over Cody Rhodes.

Like with the Punk/McIntyre feud, this match furthers the storyline with the participants. The only thing that I’m not sure about is if Sikoa will be challenging for the Universal Championship during the summer. I would think so with they way he won the match.

Like with the Priest/Rollins match, there was a botch from Tonga Loa when he went for a low blow on Kevin Owens, Before hand, Loa hit the back of his head on the announce table pretty hard after a suicide dive from Rhodes. After having a few concussions in my time, I’m sure that’s what Loa had and what would have caused the botch.

Overall the card was enjoyable, and I’m glad I didn’t miss. Lets see what happens now in the lead up to Summerslam.
