Pop culture history shows there have been plenty of collaborations between musician’s which has had people scratching their heads.
From Tim McGraw and Nelly to Pavarotti and Westlife, there have been acts that have come together and have worked, but there is one that lives rent free in my mind.
Born in London, Andre and his family relocated to Australia when he was six. Andre was mainly known for his wash board abs as much as his singing voice and gave us hits such as ‘Mysterious Girl’ and ‘Gimme Little Sign.’ He would later move back to the UK in the 90s. In 2005 Andre would marry glamour model Katie ‘Jordan’ Price.

Step-brother to Dr Dre, Griffin is credited with the emergence of ‘Gangsta Funk’ (or G Funk as it is more commonly known) alongside Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg (they formed a group known as 213).

I was in year eight at high school, and one day I bought the compilation CD Hit Machine 20 with my lawn mowing money. The CD featured songs such as ‘Torn’ by Natalie Imbruglia and ‘Too Close’ by Next, so I was excited to get home and listen to it.
I put the CD on and started to play Donkey King two on my Super Nintendo singing away with Steps and P.M. Dawn when I heard a familiar voice. It was non other than Peter Andre! The song had me hooked, and then Warren G starts rapping, so I put it on repeat for the next couple of hours playing Donkey Kong.
Later that month I picked up a pop culture magazine (I feel like it was TV Hits but can’t remember exactly) which had a interview with Andre about the song when asked why he wanted to collaborate on a song with Warren G, he said that he was keen to work with the rapper who was was big in the UK at the time.
There you have it, one of the strangest collaborations I have ever seen but yet it is a banger 26 years later.
