I remember the year I got hooked on YouTube like it was yesterday. It was 2008, and my then-girlfriend and I had just watched Step Up 2: The Streets. I was so obsessed with the final dance scene, that I had to watch again when I got home.
From there, I pretty much fell in love with the platform and have considered doing some vlogging myself (which I will start doing very soon).
Enough about me, here are some YouTube Channels worth checking out and subscribing to.
10 – How It Should Have Ended – 10.4 Million Subscribers
Ever wondered what would happen if your favourite movie had a different ending? Or what Superman and Batman do when they’re not fighting crime and saving the world? Well this Channel is for you!
The animation good quality, and the voice actors do well. Movies from franchises like Marvel and DC, as well as Star Wars, and Indiana Jones have all gotten the how it should have ended treatment. For some mindless entertainment this channel always good to watch.
9 – WhatCulture Wrestling – 2.1 Million Subscribers.
There are plenty channel’s which have Wrestling content. What Culture Wrestling for me is one of the best. I stumbled across the channel when I couldn’t sleep after an overnight hospitality shift, and would watch it every time I couldn’t sleep or when I first woke up.
Based in the UK, WhatCulture not only does Pro Wrestling, but also Movies, TV, comics, music and gaming. Started in 2006, originally the site was named Obsessed with FIlm. As per their About Us page, the site aimed to be a news destination and conversation hub for for all things Hollywood.
Well worth checking out for not only their wrestling channel, but the other channels as well.
8 – Nerdstalgic – 1.4 Million Subscribers
I have been watching Nerdstalgic for quite sometime now, and had wanted to put them on a list like this for as long as I have wanted to write one. While researching this channel, I came across a Reddit thread talking about how the Nerdstalgic had copied from another named CGY. At the time of the Reddit post CGY had under 500 subscribers, now the channel has 70.9k subscribers.
Before discovering Nerdstalgic had been accused of plagiarism, I found the channel to be entertaining and a good source of information. The videos are not too long as well which means you can fit a few in before having to get ready for work.
7 – Buff Dudes – 2.71 Million Subscribers
The last few years, I started watching a lot m ore fitness content on YouTube as I am wanting to start doing fitness content of my own. When asking google who the best fitness vloggers were, I came across two men who resembled the Thor, called the B.U.F.F (Better Understanding of Food & Fitness) Dudes.
Consisting of brothers Hudson and Brandon White, the pair decided started their channel to cover food and fitness in an entertaining and informative manner. There have been numerous times that I have both been entertained and informed by watching these two. The brothers also have a cookbook, tailored workout plans, fitness gear and apparel.
6 – Men’s Health – 1.6 Million Subscribers
Back when magazines were a thing, one of my favourites to get was Men’s Health. Now that in Australia (and I’m guessing across the world) Men’s Health has gone digital, I still take the time to read what they have online, or watch a video as soon as they post on YouTube.
A number of celebrities are usually featured in their videos, from action stars such as Alan Ritchson, musicians like Jon Bon Jovi and athletes like Kayvon Thibodeaux. The best watch on the channel where they go to a famous persons house and look at their gym and fridge. Definitely recommended viewing.
5 – Chad Townsend – 42 Thousand Subscribers
Given the other entries on this list, you might think this one is weird. But being a rugby league fan I love the insight Chad Townsend gives in his vlogs.
For those who don’t know who Chad Townsend is, he a professional rugby league player. He has had a long career that has spanned 13 years and three NRL clubs (Cronulla Sharks, New Zealand Warriors and North QLD Cowboys).
At 33-years-old Townsend is heading towards the end of his career and I’m excited to see what does after he does hang up the boots.
4 – Watch Mojo – 25.4 Million Subscribers
I fell in love with this list channel when I took some time off university. Admittedly, I wasn’t doing much in my spare time, so I watched plenty Watch Mojo content.
The best thing about Watch Mojo is they cover so many different topics and the videos are interesting and entertaining. They also have offshoot channels such as Mis Mojo which covers pop culture, and sound mojo covering all things music.
3 – Mr Beast – 292 Million Subscribers
I found Mr Beast’s channel when I saw him being interviewed by another YouTuber I follow ( I won’t name that YouTuber yet as he is coming up on the list).
Mr Beast is a Philanthropic content creator, although he started out doing other content such as saying Pewdie Pie 100,000 times. I know some people are not fans of Mr Beast but I find him entertaining and I like all the stuff that he does for his friends (most which are included in his videos).
Mr Beast was recently in Australia for a special give away, that video has not been uploaded yet but could be in the coming days.
2 – Ryan Serhant – 1.39 Million Subscribers
I discovered Ryan the same way I discovered Mr Beast, through the channel of the same YouTuber. From that point on I was a big fan.
A real estate agent in my favourite city, New York, Serhant is just a positive person who always smiles. Moving to the Big Apple to be an actor, Serhant’s acting dreams didn’t work out and was on the verge of moving back his home state of Colorado before giving real estate a go. As they say, the rest is history.
In his videos, Serhant takes you on tours of some of the most expensive places for sale in New York and other parts of the country, as well as what he does in his daily life and even some mitivatial speaking. And while he didn’t become an actor per se, he did star in reality show Million Dollar Listing New York, and now has his own Netflix show called Owning Manhatten which debuted on the streaming service on June 28.
1 – Casey Neistat – 12.6 Million Subscribers
I first found out about Casey Neistat during one of my university lectures. The lecturer used him as an example of how to to vlog, and from what I remember, I watched more of Neistat’s vlogs for the rest of the lecture.
A filmmaker, Neistat would first again attention in 2003 for his documentary named ‘iPods Dirty Little Secret’ and later a HBO show in 2008 with his brother Van called ‘The Neistat Brothers.’ Posting content on YouTube since 2010, Neistat would decided to do daily vlogs in 2015. There last few years he has scaled back how often he posts, but anything he does is worth watching.
I like Neistat’s vlogs because he uses New York City as a character in his videos; you also get to meet his family and the people in his life. If you want to become a vlogger or up your game, definitely subscribe to Neistat’s channel.
If there are any channels that you think we should subscribe to, let us know in the comments.
